With stock photography and illustration rampant, and artistry in danger of becoming a commodity, we want to take a minute to plug a talented artist – and the value (and fun!) of commissioning original work.

Michelle Daigle Illustration Six-Point Landscape

Michelle Daigle is the artist who created the illustrations found throughout our new website. We came to her about 6 months ago with an idea of illustrating the concept of “fulfillment” in a fun and interactive way, and she took it to life immediately. A true conceptual artist. Michelle created thumbnails, explored color palettes, and worked with us until we had a piece that reflected the tone, style and concept of what we were looking for.

Collaboration was key throughout the process, as Michelle had to paint the canvas in stages, scanning it in each stage in order to allow us to create an interactive final product – a budding and fruiting tree.  The bonus? We now have the original artwork decorating our office, framed in recycled materials by another artist, Trent Guihan of Metal Wood Common Good.

Here’s a little bit about Michelle: She completed her undergrad in Boston at MassArt, the only state-funded art school existing in the nation, and also one of the Northeast’s most prominent fine art schools. She is now living in Colorado, working as a freelance artist and illustrator.
